Updating an existing magazine article with an interactive illustration makes it a lot more fun to read. In this case there was an article about the Hotel Melrose in Grand Junction. I redesigned the article to embody and show the character of the hotel. The illustration breaks the visual frame and draws yours eyes towards the article.
Thumbnails
Drawing quick thumbnails helps to establish the general layout before starting the process. That way it flushes out all the ideas so I can pick the most ideal one before the actual illustrating begins.
